Jesse's Savior

I painted this for a creativity class after watching Mel Gibson's "The Passion". The lion is Jesus, and I hoped to show that he is a king who is all bruised and scarred for us. His eyes are painted to look like the world, which I think is probably what he must have been thinking about when he died for it. The thorns on his head are real--I scratched myself several times on them already! The things on the bottom that don't show up well are rusted nails. Rusted with toilet bowl cleaner and vinegar hehe. The letters on the right are wooden; they say "Xpictoc", greek for Christos, or Christ. And last but not least, the butterfly in the lower rt hand corner is to symbolize new life, Jesus's resurrection and our new life too.
Isaiah 53:4,5--"He took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows...He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon Him, and by His wounds we are healed."
